Global Gift Card is comprised of two components. | |

This add-in prompts the user for the gift card number, verifies the balance and records the gift card transactions.

| | This utility is used to synchronize balances across all stores on a user defined interval.

The Register Add-In integrates into RMS hooks to prompt the user during a transaction for the gift card number. It verifies the card number and balance on the card when used as a tender. It records transactions in the same manner as native RMS, using the Serial, Voucher and VoucherEntry tables. This utility works with RMS POS and so is installed on each computer.

| | Clerk will select the gift card inventory item in RMS and enter the value the customer wants to add to the card. |

| | Tender the transaction and apply the appropriate tender. |
| | When the user presses Ok on the Tender screen the Add-In is triggered and presents a dialog box requesting the user to scan or enter the card number. |

| | If the number is valid a transaction is written adding the specified value to the card. |

| | Gift Card Redemption |

| | To use the card as a tender type, the user will ring a customer’s transaction and tender. |
| | Move to the Gift Card Tender Type (created during installation) and enter the tender amount. |
| | Enter additional tender types. |
| | When the user presses Ok the Add-In is triggered and presents a dialog box requesting the user to scan or enter the card number. |

| | If the number is valid the balance is verified. |
| | If the balance is sufficient the transaction is completed and written to the database. |
| | If the balance is insufficient the user is returned to the tender screen and the tender amount for the card is reduced to the balance available on the card. |

On a user defined interval the Synchronization Utility connects to HQ and sends the most recent gift card transactions. It uses the same principle as HQ Client, only sending those transactions updated or created since the last connection. It requires the presence of at least a high speed internet connection.

From a set of custom tables at HQ, it replicates the voucher balances across all stores. Balances are reflected at new stores after a store has transmitted the transactions and the next store has downloaded them.

The utility is also used to add vouchers to the system and can view local voucher transactions.
|

| |
A detailed mode is available to view all transactions that are sent and received during the synchronization process.
